Bill Cullo has been measuring and helping to shape public opinion through market research since 1992. His primary areas of focus have been message development, legislative and regulatory issue advocacy campaigns, branding, and crisis research. That said, there are not many challenges, issues, or industries he has not experienced in his career.
During his first 12 years in market research, Bill’s focus was political polling. He conducted survey research and focus groups for candidates running for office at all levels – from city council to president in both the U.S. and abroad. Some of the more notable campaigns include: Governor and U.S. Senator George Voinovich (Ohio); U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (Oklahoma); Governor Tommy Thompson (Wisconsin); Governor George Allen (Virginia); and presidential races in Azerbaijan and Nigeria.
In 1996, Bill hit his political stride as he was recruited to serve as deputy director of polling for U.S. Senator Bob Dole’s 1996 presidential campaign. In the campaign, he was responsible for managing and analyzing the campaign’s national daily tracking study as well as managing all of the campaign’s research in the Midwest region. During the 2002 election cycle, he served as lead pollster and general consultant for Jim Douglas, helping to elect the first Republican governor in Vermont in over 20 years.
In 2004, Bill left politics to manage the market research division for Qorvis Communications in Washington, DC. At Qorvis, Cullo applied a political framework to work he did for corporations and trade associations facing myriad challenges and opportunities. He managed and conducted research projects covering a wide range of clients and a host of industries including: The Virginia Lottery, Jim Beam Global, Oklahoma Board of Tourism, The Mortgage Bankers Association, Halliburton, Financial Services Roundtable, DynCorp, and CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation).
In 2008, Bill started his own market research firm where he continued to build on his previous experience conducting work on behalf of such organizations as the American Medical Association, AARP, Transurban, Edison Electric Institute, and the Coalition for Space Exploration.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988 and has lived in the Washington, DC-area for over 20 years. He is the proud father of four daughters and lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Tracy.
